ENTERPRISE SECURITY SOLUTION; A NECESSITY NOW MORE THAN EVER

In today’s cyber environment, an effective enterprise security program is imperative in order to protect the computing infrastructure upon which the enterprise is built. Effective enterprise security programs enable the mission of an enterprise, not hinder it. Without an effective security program, enterprises leave themselves exposed and vulnerable to the malicious intent of countless numbers of bad actors and organized crime.

Large corporate systems regularly face various threats to information security — from external interference and destruction of protection tools’ functionality to the theft of data by employees.
The larger the corporate network is, the more difficult it is to ensure the enterprise’s security regarding the integrity of its data. Every entry point, including remote users and their network permissions, is an opportunity for cyber attackers.

The move to cloud infrastructure for business process support has created new issues for corporate IT security. Cyber-attacks and data breaches are on the rise and continue to pose serious threats to organizations. Cyber threats do not come only from outside, insider threats are also quite a troublesome problem for organizations. Aggregate permissions, unnecessary high-level permissions, and deleted users with active accounts are issues that can lead to data leakage because of phishing or social engineering. According to a recent Ponemon Institute study, the average cost of an insider hack has risen 31% to $11.45 million. That is why enterprises need to build their security strategy based on the characteristics of the system and the threats it faces.

As organizations embrace technology, it is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to predict all the threats and vulnerabilities that come to fore in the process. This is what makes enterprise security reactive by nature, and that is why protecting the system or asset becomes extremely difficult. Furthermore, organizations are more interested in getting a solution that helps them meet their compliance norms rather than address their security problems. Two other issues that also further complicates enterprise security are the cloud and the internet of things (IoT) because they expand the total attack surface.

The attack surface of any enterprise has expanded significantly in recent years. Traditionally, organizations would be responsible for securing data stored in on-premise servers and leverage state-of-the-art security solutions to protect against cyber-attacks. These threats were usually motivated by financial or political gains. Today, businesses connect technologies to reach a wider user base, collaborate with vendors, and allow for work across a distributed workforce across geographically disparate locations—your risk is higher than ever before.

Bad actors search the web for vulnerable targets, thus having a strong corporate security policy is essential for establishing a defensive posture that raises the bar high enough for those with malicious intent to move on to a less vulnerable target.

In today’s world, having an effective and well-maintained enterprise security is critical. Organizations must incorporate enterprise-level security to define the best practices and cybersecurity defenses to protect them from data breach and stop attackers from exploiting their unknown vulnerabilities.
